Sustainability
Designed for Minimal Impact
We want our products to enhance the natural experiences we love, not threaten them. We source quality materials that tread lightly on our planet while working hard on the trail.
We're proud to work with top-tier factories, that hold the highest certifications and integrity in the industry.
Materials
Ultralight 100% recycled polyester
Hikas™ are made from an ultralight, quick dry, moisture resistant, material that is super soft and durable. At just 2.5 oz and easily packable, they're a hassle-free addition to your pack.
Oysters and Recycled Plastic Bottles!
The odor-resistant and anti-microbial insulation inside Hikas is special. It's created from oyster shells and 100% post consumer PET (aka plastic bottles).
Trims
We source everything with quality and durability in mind.
The elastics used are of the highest quality available. We are particularly excited about our low-profile elastic along the bottom of the foot. It's soft, thin, and you can't feel it.
We haven't yet found recycled trims that meet our standards. During one of our sub-zero tests, a recycled plastic hardware component cracked, failing our quality test.
We continue to research alternative trim options that meet our sustainability goals.
Manufacturing
Responsibly made in small batches
We work closely in tandem with our manufacturing facility.
We're proud to work with top tier suppliers whose skills are exceptional.
What we love most about our manufacturing facility is the people. They are diligent, kind, and knowledgeable.
Giving Back
We believe that every company has a responsibility to improve their communities. We are part of the hiking community.
We promise to use our resources to further projects that preserve old growth forests, educate outdoor enthusiasts of all ages, and expand access to nature.
Help make us better
We know that sustainable business decisions take practice and evolution.
If there is an area where we should improve–or a certification we should consider–we want to hear from you!
